Decibel Meter Pro

Audio engineers and those of you who have had to work in studios have probably dealt with sound meters in the past. These folks usually have access to professional sound level meters. Not everyone needs a dedicated tool for that though. Decibel Meter Pro is a cool little app that uses your iPad’s microphone to measure how loud the background noise at your location is.

Decibel Meter Pro has a fun interface. It is fairly easy to operate. Just point it in the direction of the source of noise in your area to get started. The level of sensitivity in this tool can be modified. You do get access to a decibel reference chart just in case you are not an expert in audio and need some help.

Decibel Meter Pro is probably not as accurate as highly sensitive, professional sound level meters. But it gives you some option. The displays are large and easy to read too. If you need a sound level meter to take with you on the go but don’t want to spend on an expensive professional unit, this app is worth checking out.
