Google Currents for iPad

Personalized magazine applications are on the rise. As more people use their tablets and smartphones to consume the news, the demand for these types of apps increases. Flipboard has been one of the best personalized magazine apps for some time. Thanks to Google Currents, it now has a formidable competitor. Google Currents lets you keep up with your favorite blogs no matter how lousy their designs are.

Google Currents allows its users to consume the content from their favorite websites on their iPhones, iPads, and Android devices. Even sites that are not hand-held friendly will show up fine in Google Currents. You can search through sites and add new ones to your library quickly. Google Currents does come with a self-publishing service just in case you are interested in customizing the look of your own edition.

Google trending edition shows you the top content from around the Internet (in various categories). The app can handle your Google Reader account too (though our experience with it in that regard has not been great). It does self-adapt to differently sized phones and tablets which is nice. Google Currents is not a Flipboard killer yet but gives you options.
