FlyToMap GPS HD

Marine GPS devices do take a bit of space and are not exactly the cheapest gadgets you can pick up these days. There are plenty of regular GPS applications that can help you find your way around with your iPhone when you are not on water. FlyToMap GPS HD is the app for those who are planning to spend some time outdoors (and not in their cars). It has plenty of maps to help you find your way around when boating, hiking, or just walking.

FlyToMap is designed mainly for iPhone, but it’s compatible with iPad too. It has all USA marine charts and covers forests and parks in the U.S. too. It even has maps of parks in Europe too. The maps are high quality and easy to interact with (zooming and panning is supported). You can also add markers to your maps too.

The app does allow you to see your position on the map (works best with iPhone). FlyToMap does have a search feature to make your life more convenient. While water and lake maps included in this app are nice, what was most exciting to me were the travel maps. They are great for tourists.

FlyToMap is a pretty useful app for those of you who spend a lot of time outdoors. It saves you from the trouble of having to carry an extra physical device. The maps are very handy and the app covers a lot of areas. Good choice for those who don’t go anywhere without their iPad.
