CoPilot Live HD for iPad

So you want to use your iPad as your main GPS device to get to your destination faster when you are on the road? Maybe you just want to use it as a backup. Whatever the case, it pays to have a decent navigation app on your iPad to help get you unstuck on the go. CoPilot Live HD for iPad is a decent navigation app for iPad 3G that provides you with turn by turn directions and helps you get to your destination on time.

CoPilot is optimized to take advantage of your iPad’s larger screen. The app can be used in portrait or landscape mode. It not only provides you with turn by turn directions, it gives you 2D and 3D views of the road ahead of you. The lane indicator (similar to lane assistance feature used on Garmin and TomTom GPS units) can help you stay on the right track at all times.

The app does have thousands of POIs for you to choose from. It supports multi-stop routing as well. The local search feature is nice to have as well. The app does need better maps. It would also be nice if it was more intuitive.

We did have a few issues getting the app to work even when connected to the Internet. The app does have potential but some of these bugs need to be addressed. It’s not too expensive in comparison to other GPS apps on the market. But the developers have some work to do.
